The Orange County Board of Commissioners voted 6-1 at their meeting Tuesday night to postpone next year’s scheduled property revaluation till 2015.Â
Commissioner Earl McKee cast the lone dissenting vote, saying he was worried the public would think the county is choosing to not revalue because property values could go down, causing the county to lose money. McKee said that in order to be fair to all residents, the county should stick with the previously determined four-year revaluation cycle.Â
The delay in property revaluation will provide the county with $350,000 to be used at the board’s discretion.Â
