Co-captain Kylie Tawney heads in the game-winning shot in the state soccer finals against Cuthbertson High on Saturday. The Carrboro High School women’s soccer team took the 2A NCHSAA title, defeating Cuthbertson, 2-1, in the finals. In last year’s state finals, Cuthbertson defeated Carrboro in penalty kicks, but this year the Jaguars made sure to close out the game in regulation time, with an early goal from Caroline Houser and a late header from Kylie Tawney. Tawney was named MVP of the game. Photo by Ted SpauldingCarrboro’s Samantha Burch (#19) and Becca Aronson (#2) attack as Phenix Durham (#16) and Mikayla Seibert (#2) close in.
