Fourth of July celebration

Posted on June 7, 2012 by Staff

Fireworks are returning to Kenan Stadium this July 4.

Due to budget constraints, the event was canceled last year. This year, WCHL and Chapelboro.com are teaming up with the town to raise funds by soliciting business and community sponsorships, but more funds are needed to defray the costs of the $42,000-plus event. To help offset the costs, the town will accept voluntary contributions of $1 per person or $5 per family of five or more at the entrance gates to Kenan Stadium.

Gates open at 7 p.m. Fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m., and activities are planned throughout the entire evening.
