Chapel Hill passes death-penalty resolution

Posted on June 14, 2012June 14, 2012 by Staff

The Chapel Hill Town Council passed a resolution on Monday calling for repeal of the death penalty, proposed by local members of People of Faith Against the Death Penalty (PFADP).
Chapel Hill became the first municipality in North Carolina to pass a resolution against the death penalty. The resolution calls for replacing the death penalty with life in prison without parole and using the money saved for programs for murder victims’ families and crime prevention.
On Monday, PFADP will hold a forum on the resolutions at St. Joseph C.M.E. Church from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
