Gift to library

Posted on June 14, 2012 by Staff

The Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation has funded a $150,000 grant that will ensure the new Chapel Hill Public Library can purchase materials for its opening in the spring of 2013. Foundation President George Cianciolo presented the grant to the town council at its Monday night meeting.
The foundation has been collecting donations to fund library acquisitions and programs not covered, or only minimally covered, by the town. The grant will allow the library to begin new programs such as a children’s book-kit service targeted to day-care centers, teachers and home school groups; provide a start-up collection of children’s Playaway View devices; and add new audiobooks and DVDs for all ages.
The foundation is now challenging the community to match the $150,000 grant to allow the library to make additional purchases.
To donate, visit chplfoundation.org/help/donate or send contributions to the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation, P.O. Box 4771, Chapel Hill, NC, 27515-4771, or call (919) 929-1666.
