The Chapel Hill WISE (Worthwhile Investments Save Energy) Homes and Buildings program has been expanded to include single-family rental homes and multifamily buildings.
The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) awarded Chapel Hill WISE $780,000 for excellent program performance, which enabled the program expansion.
Chapel Hill WISE was launched in March 2011 with funds from SEEA and the U.S. Department of Energy. Since then, the program has incentivized 91 residential energy-efficiency improvement projects, saving homeowners an average of 25 percent in energy consumption and $561 on yearly energy costs.
