UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp has announced that former N.C. Gov. James Martin, Association of American Universities (AAU) President Hunter Rawlings and management consulting firm Virchow, Krause & Company have been brought to UNC to help address different aspects of issues related to an internal investigation of the African and Afro-American studies department.
Martin and Virchow, Krause & Company will lead an independent review of academic irregularities that may have occurred before 2007. The consulting firm will also review new academic performance policies, procedures and controls put in place in the African and Afro-American studies department to ensure they represent best practices.
Rawlings will help the university examine future relationships between academics and athletics on campus.
