Learning and Intervention Services director named

Amanda Hartness

McDougle Elementary School Principal Amanda Hartness has been named the director of Learning and Intervention Services (LIS) for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools district.

Hartness began working for the district in 2006 as the principal at Carrboro Elementary. She has been the principal at McDougle Elementary since 2008 and has been nationally recognized for her leadership in the area of wellness at McDougle.

Hartness will begin her new position immediately and McDougle Assistant Principal Patrenia McDowell has been selected as the interim principal. Mary Parrish, a former assistant principal at McDougle Middle School, has been name interim assistant principal for McDougle Elementary.
