Walk for Education set for Oct. 13

Posted on October 4, 2012 by Staff

The 16th annual Walk for Education, organized by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation, will be held on Oct. 13.
Participants will walk from McCorkle Place at UNC to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools district offices at the Lincoln Center on Merritt Mill Road, where a carnival will be held. This year the walk is themed “Super 16.” Students from each school can show through either costume or signs why their school is “super,” and a cash prize will be awarded to the school whose students give the best representation of their “super” features. Each school has designated specific projects that funds raised from the walk will go toward.
The walk starts at 2 p.m. and no registration is necessary. Participants are encouraged to use shuttles that will run from Chapel Hill and Carrboro high schools to the Lincoln Center and McCorkle Place, as parking will not be available at Lincoln Center or along Merritt Mill.
