Construction to cause closures, delays

Posted on May 11, 2010 by Staff

Two of the three lanes of South Columbia Street between South Road and Cameron Avenue will be closed starting this week through Aug. 13 as work continues on the replacement of the steam tunnel serving UNC.

The closures are expected to cause traffic congestion and delays. All motorists traveling northbound on South Columbia Street are advised to plan accordingly and to use alternative routes when possible. Motorists can also expect congestion and delays due to diverted traffic along eastbound Manning Drive and South Road, especially during afternoon peak drive times. Chapel Hill Transit will continue to serve the Sitterson Hall bus stop.
