Orange County Board of Education candidate Laura Nicholson on Wednesday filed a request for a runoff with the county Board of Elections.
Nicholson will face incumbent Anne Medenblik for the runoff on June 22 at the same time as the U.S. Senate runoff.
During the May 4 election, Medenblik received 2,565 votes, or 12.2 percent, compared with Nicholson’s 2,500, or 11.9 percent. Candidates Debbie Piscitelli, Donna Dean Coffey and Brenda Stephens were the top three vote-getters.
