Community Brief: Rabies vaccine

Posted on October 25, 2007 by Staff

Orange County Animal Services will offer low-cost rabies vaccination clinics in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough on Saturday.

The clinics will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Orange County Animal Shelter on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Chapel Hill and at the Government Center Annex on South Cameron Street in Hillsborough.

The vaccination fee is $5 and must be paid in cash. If possible, pet owners should bring their pets’ most recent vaccination certificates. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.

Under state law, if a pet is not current on its rabies vaccination and comes into contact with a rabid animal, it must be quarantined for six months or destroyed.

For more information, visit www.co.orange.nc.us/animalservices/rabies.asp or call 245-2075.
