Volunteers needed for MLK service day

Posted on January 12, 2011 by Staff

Volunteers are needed for a Martin Luther King Day of Service event at Frank Porter Graham Elementary School on Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

FPG and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Community Connection Program have teamed up with Kramden Institute Inc. to hold the event, during which Kramden will award refurbished computers to 60 district students who do not have a computer at home.

Volunteers are needed to work 3.5-hour shifts, in such jobs as providing families with transportation, registration, basic computer setup training, and computer staging and transport. District students can receive Service Learning Hours for their participation. To volunteer, contact Renny Johnson at 967-8211, ext. 28349 or rjohnson@chccs.k12.nc.us
