Part of building a sustainable local economy is managing open space, and a day-long workshop at N.C. State University will explore the ins and outs of the issue. “A Green Future for Economic Development: The Dollars and Sense of Open Space†will be held at the McKimmon Center (1101 Gorman St.) in Raleigh from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Speakers will include Chuck Flink, founder and owner of Greenways, Inc., and Ed McMahon, Charles Fraser Senior Resident Fellow for Sustainable Development at the Urban Land Institute.
