Ackland to open gift shop

Posted on March 16, 2011 by Staff

The Ackland Art Museum at UNC plans to open a museum store at 100 E. Franklin St. in early May.

Renovations have begun on the long-vacant space on the corner of Columbia and Franklin streets, with occupancy expected by mid-April. The store will carry an inventory of products related to the Ackland’s permanent collection and changing exhibitions, including homewares such as pottery, glass and metalwork; jewelry, textiles and accessories; children’s toys and books; and stationary, including note cards and postcards of significant works in the Ackland’s collection. It will also offer a range of books.

In addition, a dedicated space will feature rotating exhibitions of original artworks in a variety of media by local and regional artists and artisans. All proceeds from the store will support the Ackland’s exhibition and education programs.
