Carrboro’s Erica Eisdorfer has long been known in book circles around here and not just because she’s managed the Bullshead Book Shop on campus for so many years.
Her name got a little wider circulation this week after Amazon.com named her new work, The Wet Nurse’s Tale, one of the top ten finalists in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest.
She sends along this reaction: “I guess I could say that this is the thrill of a lifetime for me. I’ve been writing novels and sticking them under my bed for many years and this sort of recognition is just about as validating as possible. The contest began in November and there were 5,000 entries, so it’s great to have lasted.â€
Interested parties are invited to log on to the Amazon site, read an excerpt from the novel and consider a vote for Carrboro’s next literary champion.
I’m writing a review of your book for the Historical Novel Review and I feel honored to write about this wonderful story. I think you need to look under your bed and see what other gems we readers may be missing.
I live in Hershey PA – is there a chance you will be coming north on your book tour?
just wanted to say , i read about 2 books a week and this is the best read in a long time. i am also a lactation consultant at the local hospital and i feel the book leaves just the right feel for nursing in someone’s mind.. thanks, janet bridgers, rn lactation consultant
Erica, you are so down to earth and wise about human nature. I thoroughly enjoyed your book. Any woman of any race should have been able to connect with the characters in this book. I have a book hidden away. You make me want to try and get it published again. Can’t wait until your next one. I want to hear more about Susan Rose. She is a trip!
