Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools continued to perform well on the ABCs of Public Instruction, the statewide program that measures growth based on End-of-Grade Testing.
Sixteen of the 17 district schools achieved High Growth. Three district schools were named Honor Schools of Excellence for 2011: Estes Hills Elementary, Glenwood Elementary and Seawell Elementary. These are schools that achieved Adequate Yearly Progress, made at least Expected Growth and had 90 percent or more of their students at or above grade level on end-of-grade tests.
Another eight district schools were named Schools of Excellence after meeting at least Expected Growth and having 90 percent or more of their students at grade level: Rashkis Elementary, Scroggs Elementary, Culbreth Middle, McDougle Middle, Phillips Middle, Smith Middle, Chapel Hill High and East Chapel Hill High.
All remaining schools in the district were named Schools of Distinction. These schools made at least Expected Growth and had 80 percent or more of their students at grade level: Carrboro Elementary, Ephesus Elementary, Frank Porter Graham Elementary, McDougle Elementary, Morris Grove Elementary and Carrboro High.
