The Orange County Board of Health has hired Colleen M. Bridger as the new director for the county’s health department. Bridger will begin work on Oct. 31.
In the position of health director, Bridger will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the 95 staff in the department and a $7 million budget, as well as providing strategic leadership among a variety of health and human services providers in the county.
Bridger has served as the executive director of South Carolina Institute for Child Success in Greenville, S.C., for the past year and has served as the director of the health departments in Gaston County and Stokes County. She received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in health services research from UNC-Charlotte.
