LETTER: Vote Coleman for Aldermen

Posted on October 6, 2011 by Staff

I am proud to support the reelection of Dan Coleman to the Carrboro Board of Aldermen. I have known Dan for more than 20 years as someone with a consistent vision of social justice, environmental preservation and economic fairness. I have seen Dan attempting to put that vision into practice as he has grappled with various local issues in our town, such as paying wages to town employees that would enable them to actually live in this community. I have read articles in the paper and heard commentaries on local radio stations where Dan’s name comes up constantly as someone advocating for more inclusive policies, such as more public transit, better bikeways and encouraging local businesses to grow and flourish. I also see that Dan had a role recently in making sure that no town employees were laid off, no services were cut and taxes were not raised during these difficult economic times. Dan has become more and more the voice of Carrboro in local politics, and his vision always seems to ring true – no small feat in these times of compromise and hardship. I want Dan to continue his valuable work helping to make Carrboro a unique and wonderful place to live, for everyone.
