Registration deadlines/ election update

Posted on April 8, 2008April 8, 2008 by Staff

A reminder that regular registration is coming to a close, the early voting period is about to begin and there’s a complicated election ahead. Oh, and our Democratic presidential primary counts this year.
We’ll have a look at these and the races in this week’s Citizen.
Registration deadlines and other info and links after the jump and on our Elections & Politics site.

There are now three ways to register and vote: traditional Absentee, Same Day Registration Absentee (One Stop) and traditional registration.
Here’s the traditional method via the OC BOE:

The registration deadline for those who want to vote in the May 6 election falls on April 11.
To vote in Orange County, you must be:

• a U.S. citizen and resident of North Carolina and this county for 30 days before the election;
• at least 18 years old on or before the next election;
• not registered and not voting in any other county or state.
• if convicted of a felony, your rights of citizenship have been restored;
• if you move out of your precinct but remain within Orange County you should notify the board office in writing of your new address.

Registration forms can be found at public buildings and libraries in the County or online at the Orange County Board of Elections website.
