Planned Parenthood is presenting the Sundance Grand Jury-winning documentary Southern Comfort at The ArtsCenter today (Thursday) at 7 p.m.
Southern Comfort follows the final year in the life of Robert Eads, a female-to-male transsexual. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Eads was turned down for treatment by two dozen doctors out of fear that treating a transsexual person would damage their reputations. During his final year, Eads fell in love with male-to-female transsexual Lola Cola, who will attend the Carrboro event for a Q&A.
Proceeds from the event will go to Planned Parenthood’s transgender services. To purchase tickets for $10, visit ppcentralnc.org/lola
