Community Brief: Kidzu receives grant

Posted on May 15, 2008 by Staff

Chapel Hill’s Kidzu Children’s Museum has been awarded a $100,000 grant by The Grable Foundation, a Pittsburgh-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth. The two-year grant will be used to support education and outreach programs, exhibit development and other operating costs of the museum. The grant is the third Kidzu has received from The Grable Foundation.

According to Kidzu executive director Cathy Maris, the support provided by The Grable Foundation over the last several years has made it possible for the nonprofit museum to serve the community’s children and families. Since opening its doors in 2006, Kidzu has outgrown its 2,700-square-foot East Franklin Street location, and museum organizers are planning for a move to a larger, permanent location. Sites in Carrboro and Chapel Hill are under consideration.
