Sculptor and metalworker Ruffin Hobbs died after falling three stories in his home and studio, a converted grist mill near Saxapahaw in Alamance County. Police believe the fall was an accident.
Hobbs’ body was found Monday morning by a neighbor. He was living alone while his wife was visiting family overseas.
His work includes a mobile that hangs at UNC Hospitals and three-and-a-half-ton tiger sculptures at an entrance to the Princeton football stadium, along with many commissioned works for area galleries and organizations.
