Obituary — Marcia L. Jenkins

Posted on August 21, 2008 by Staff

Marcia Lynette Jenkins was called home by the Lord on August 19, 2008. Marcia was a most loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother – an angel on earth guarding and supporting her loved ones. Now she has left us to be our guardian angel from heaven. Marcia is survived by her husband, Bruce; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jenkins; children, Krystina Grimstead and Michael Reeve; her sister and brother, Janet Adamson and Robert Jenkins; aunts and uncles, Charles and Anne Tolleson and Bobby and Genny Jenkins; plus three beautiful grandchildren, Matthew, Dallas, and Trey.

Marcia was born in Brunswick, GA on March 3, 1949 and raised nearby on St. Simon’s Island, graduating from Glynn Academy in 1967, and later receiving her bachelor’s degree in special education from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in counseling from Georgia State University. Marcia spent her entire career working to reach out and help others in one way or another. She strived to live her personal life in a manner that exemplified her belief in God and love for others. Marcia not only talked-the-talk, but walked-the-walk by taking in unwed mothers and volunteering at shelters for abused women and children.

Visitation for friends and co-workers in the Raleigh area will be from 5:30 – 7:30 pm on Aug. 21st at the Cremation Society of the Carolinas. The address is 2205 E. Millbrook Road in Raleigh, NC. Details of the Memorial Service and Internment at the family home on St. Simon’s Island, Ga. is forthcoming.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Oncologist Dr. Kenneth Zeitler, Pastoral Counselor Terri Kuczynski, and the entire staff at Rex Cancer Center for their compassion and care during Marcia’s illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcia’s memory to the Angel Fund — providing assistance to cancer patients with financial needs — c/o Rex Healthcare Foundation, 2500 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 325, Raleigh, N.C., 27607.
