Obituary: Frances O. Watson

Frances Oakley Watson, age 87, died Sept. 14 at The Methodist Retirement Home at Croasdaile Village in Durham after an extended illness.
For most of her life, she lived in Carrboro, where she retired from the UNC Hospital after 25 years of service. She was an active member of Carrboro United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

She is survived by one son, Herb C. Watson III of Winston Salem; two daughters, Kathryn Watson Waters of Raleigh and Vivian Watson Dickerson of Pensacola, FL; three sisters, Carlene Oakley Sturdivant of Carrboro, Mildred Oakley Hobby of Spartanburg, SC and Joyce Oakley Holloman of Hickory; five grandchildren, two great grand-children and numerous niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, the late Herbert C. Watson, Jr. and her parents Stephen Ennis Oakley and Lillie Self Oakley.

Funeral services were held Sept. 17 at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro. Memorials may be made to the Carrboro United Methodist Church or Duke Hospice.
