News brief: Commissioners talk tethering

Posted on November 6, 2008 by Staff

The Orange County Board of Commissioners meets tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 at the F. Gordon Battle Courtroom on East Margaret Lane in Hillsborough.

The board will consider a proposed animal-ordinance amendment restricting the tethering of dogs. If approved, the ordinance would restrict tethering to no more than three hours within a 24-hour period, specify types of collars and equipment permissible for tethering and require minimum kennel sizes. Certain organized and lawful animal functions and circumstances would be exempt.

The board will also consider setting a public hearing on an educational-facilities impact fee for Dec. 1. For the complete agenda, visit www.co.orange.nc.us
