Community brief: County toy chest needs donations

Posted on December 17, 2008 by Staff

The Orange County Department of Social Services is in serious need of donations for the Orange County Toy Chest.

More than 200 people gathered two hours before the toy chest was scheduled to open on the first day of service and demand is expected to be high throughout the eight-day run. Sponsors anticipate that the supply of toys might not be enough to serve all those in need.

To make a monetary donation, contact Donna Hall at DSS at 245-2800. Checks or toys can be dropped off at either location of DSS, the Southern Human Services Center on Homestead Road in Chapel Hill or Whitted Human Services on West Tryon Street in Hillsborough. Checks can also be mailed to the Orange County Department of Social Services, 300 W. Tryon St., P.O. Box 8181, Hillsborough, NC, 27278.
