Earth Action Day set for Saturday

The Town of Chapel Hill will present the 2009 Earth Action Day Celebration from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday on the grounds of UNC’s Morehead Planetarium and Science Center on Franklin Street.

The event will feature an Earth Day Ballet by the Studio A Dancers, musical performances by Equinox and the Kickin’ Grass Band and exhibits by more than 60 organizations showcasing sustainable initiatives. In addition, the North Carolina Botanical Gardens will host tours of the Coker Arboretum and the UNC Institute for the Environment will host a feature film, The Last Time We Were Green, at 7 p.m. in the planetarium’s theater. Healthy food will also be available at the event.

Shuttles directly to and from the event will be available on weekend bus routes and public parking onsite will be limited. For more information on bus routes or Earth Action Day, visit townofchapelhill.org/earthday
