Carrboro Elementary School teacher Helen Crompton received the national award from the Visiting International Faculty Program’s 2009 International Educator of the Year awards program.
Crompton, a visiting teacher from the United Kingdom, was chosen from more than 70 nominees in six states. In her three years at Carrboro Elementary, she has served as her grade-level team leader and created memorable, cultural events for her students. In addition, she earned her master’s degree, spoke at conferences and wrote an article about integrating technology into math curriculum for a national education magazine.
Through the Visiting International Faculty Program, educators build skills and experiences that will ensure their students will succeed in the diverse job markets they will graduate into.
