Obituary: David Earl Wright

Posted on June 4, 2009 by Staff

David Earl Wright was born June 11, 1986 and entered into eternal rest on May 28, 2009 following a lengthy illness. He attended Chapel Hill High School before falling victim to the debilitating symptoms of Lafora epilepsy.
He was baptized while a resident at Shady Lawn Group Home.

David lived his life to the fullest. He loved the UNC Tar Heels, the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan and music of all kinds. He had the time of his life fulfilling his dream with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

He is survived by his parents, Trudy and Jeff Ray; one brother, Brian Jones and wife, Kari; three nieces, MacKenzie, Brianna and Lydia Jones; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his godmother, Vickie Crabtree. He was especially close and responsive to his cousin, Ashley Carver. He was preceded in death by his maternal
grandparents, Bill and Elsie Kimrey, and his special sister, Amy Denise.

The family and friends wish to extend sincere appreciation for the dedicated caregivers at Shady Lawn Group Home and Murdock Developmental Center for the dedication, medical care and nurturing love given to David. Special thanks goes to Dennis Jones, aka Little Brother, for his unconditional devotion and love; Dr. Janet Keating for the God-given talent of true compassion; McKever Thorpe and Dorothy Williams for their dedication to David; and Willis Herman, chaplain, for his spiritual guidance and never-ending support.

Funeral services were held last week with burial at Rosewood Cemetery.

Walker’s Funeral Home of Hillsborough, 204 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough, (919) 732-2121 is assisting the Wright family.
