Kille found guilty of misdemeanor forgery

Marilyn Kille was found guilty of misdemeanor common-law forgery for altering Town of Carrboro documents in a case relating to her two-year battle with the town over the use of an apartment on her Peppermint Spring farm.

Kille was sentenced to a 15-day suspended sentence, a year of unsupervised probation and a total of $475 in fines and court costs.

    Well, I saw the proceedings and I have no idea, why this was even in the court? This was something that could have been settled outside the court (both the civil and criminal case). Can anyone, please explain the reason we have carrboro dispute settlement group/center? Why citizen’s of carrboro are paying huge attorney fees?
