Protest charge dismissed

Posted on September 17, 2009September 17, 2009 by Staff

On Sunday, Orange County District Court Judge Buckner dismissed the charge against UNC senior and Morehead-Cain scholar Haley Koch, who was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace at an educational institution last April during a protest against Youth for Civilization speaker Tom Tancredo. Buckner ruled that Koch’s actions did not interfere with academic activity.

Six others, who are not UNC students, also were on trial Monday. Those outcomes included fines and dismissals, with one person being found not guilty.
