Letter: For Brownstein

Posted on September 18, 2009 by Staff

For Brownstein
I am a student at UNC, having graduated from East two years ago. I have had the pleasure to look at the ideas that Dr. Brownstein brings to the table in her bid for school board, and I believe that what I see is what Chapel Hill/Carrboro needs. We need school board members who care about all students – not just a select few; and, if students need extra help/resources, I believe she is the lady who could see this was addressed.

We need school board members who care about their teachers, their students, the parents of these students and the community. Dr. Brownstein has shown these qualities. We need people who are informed about what the needs of the community really are and go that extra mile to know what they are saying and can back it up with information. She is a go-getter and arms herself with heavily done research. We need board members who look for ways to trim the budget without trimming the educational needs of the students.

I believe that Chapel Hill/Carrboro could benefit from having someone like Dr. Brownstein on the board because without proper educations, our community will pay the price. Ignorance is costly and, Dr. Brownstein thrives to see that ALL students are top priority and, that ALL teachers are valued, not just some.
