My mother always taught me to “leave it better than you found it.†I continue to find this advice useful when I think about the responsibilities we are going to pass off to future generations.
In the simplest terms, we must think about how to leave this world a little better for our kids. Each time we are charitable and each time we reduce our carbon footprint, we are taking steps in the right direction.
I’m endorsing Sammy Slade for Carrboro’s Board of Aldermen. I’ve worked with Sammy, and admire his tenacious passion about the environment and his resolve in seeking innovative solutions through group brainstorming.
Sammy Slade is an optimistic visionary, a community volunteer and organizer and a natural mediator and problem-solver. His record is reflective of one who has long felt the calling of public service for the benefit of his community.
Slade is the co-founder of Carrboro Greenspace, a collaborative group that promotes community through grassroots environmental education and resourceful uses of public space. As well, Slade was a founder of the Carrboro Community Garden and Transition Carrboro and is chair of our Local Living Economy Task Force.
People come up with great ideas when they put their heads together. One thing that excites me about Sammy’s campaign is his motivation to bring folks into Town Hall and get them involved on a collaborative level in the decision-making process.
Please join me in supporting Sammy Slade for alderman.
