Dr. Joseph Green is an ideal candidate for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education.
He has significant experience in the education field, having taught at both the secondary and collegiate level and now serving as director of the UNC Upward Bound TRiO Program. Green, being relatively new to this district, also has the ability to give a fresh perspective to district issues and bring about the innovation required to make our great schools even greater and able to educate all of our students.
Green’s platform has five goals: maintaining high expectations for all students, equitably distributing resources, creating effective efforts to close the achievement gap, supporting Professional Learning Communities and encouraging parent and community involvement. Green understands that educating children is a task that requires community members at all levels to work together. The board must be willing and able to work with teachers and administrators but also students, parents and community groups, all of whom have a vested interest in our children’s’ success.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools prides itself on the high quality of its students, its curriculum, its teachers and its administrators. But it must work to garner full community inclusiveness, to engage and educate all students and to create the flexibility to address the needs of a diverse community. Green will address these issues and make our schools even better. Elect Joe Green for the board of education, a new, strong voice for the district!
