Positive rabies test for bat
On April 12, Orange County Animal Services received a positive rabies result from a bat in the second confirmed Orange County rabies case in 2010.
N.C. 87 closure
Though a section of N.C. 87 in Pittsboro will close on April 19, officials say the project will not restrict local access to the area. The road closing will allow for the construction of a roundabout in front of the new Chatham Community Library.
Barn fire kills 13 horses
An April 8 barn fire at Foxwood Trail Farm, northwest of Chapel Hill, killed 13 horses before spreading into the nearby woods.
Golf tournament to benefit homeless
The 10th Annual Brian Clemens Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service’s Community House will be held May 3 at UNC Finley Golf Course.
Gazebo to be dedicated to Rebecca Clark
A gazebo at the Old Chapel Hill Cemetery on the corner of Country Club and South roads will be dedicated to the memory of the late Rebecca Clark during a ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on April 24.
