CHCCS students post highest SAT score in district history
This year’s average composite reading and math score was 1194, up from 1179 in 2009-10, while the average composite reading, math and writing score was 1776, up from 1751.

Downtown plan discussion
The future of downtown Chapel Hill will be discussed during the presentation of the draft Downtown Development Framework and Action Plan to town advisory boards and commissions Thursday, September 16, at 5 p.m. at Town Hall.
UNC to test sirens
The university will test its emergency sirens on Tuesday, September 21, between noon and 1 p.m. as part of Alert Carolina, a safety-awareness campaign.
Lane to be closed on 15-501
The right northbound lane of U.S. 15-501 near Old Mason Farm Road will be closed during road construction scheduled for Sept. 15 to 24.
Surprise! Towns are bicycle friendly
Carrboro won a silver designation and Chapel Hill a bronze for their friendliness to human propelled two-wheeled transportation.
Community center closed
The Chapel Hill Community Center on South Estes Drive, will be closed for annual maintenance through Sunday.
Trustees to review plans
A pipeline easement from the Orange County Landfill to the generation station on Homestead Road, concept plans for University Square and an update on Carolina North are among the topics scheduled for review next week by the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Trustees.
Dog swim
Orange County’s Animal Services Department will hold its annual Dog Swim on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the A.D. Clark Pool at the Hargraves Center in Chapel Hill.
