Former U.S. Congressman Ike Andrews, who served six terms as the representative from North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, died Monday in an assisted-living facility at the age of 84.

County establishes capital reserve fund, holds off on closing projects
The Orange County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday to establish a capital reserve fund for future county projects, but hesitated on closing out capital projects that have had limited activity in order to use those funds for other projects.

Electricity rates likely to decrease
Progress Energy plans to ask the N.C. Utilities Commission in June to lower electricity rates to reflect the falling cost of coal, natural gas and other fuels used in power plants.
South Columbia Street lanes closed
