Math teacher funniest comic

DSI Comedy Theater crowned Raleigh high school math teacher John Betz Jr. “Carolina’s Funniest Comic” after a month-long competition. Mary Kate Wise was the runner-up. Over five weeks, 32 contestants performed in a single-elimination competition. Besides the title, Betz won $1,000 and a primetime slot at DSI Comedy Theater.
