The Phillips Middle Geometry and Algebra II Math Teams finished first in the Regional Mathematics Competition at UNC-Pembroke on March 13. The site provides information regarding the district’s pest-management notifications, the asbestos removal program, chemical hygiene, air quality and other safety issues. The Phillips Middle School Battle of the Books team finished second in the Piedmont area regional tournament on April 18 at Randolph Community College in Asheboro. Fourteen area teams competed in the tournament. The team from Winston-Salem/Forsyth finished 10 points ahead of the Phillips team.

School Brief: CHS Concert

The Carrboro High Chorus and Orchestra will perform a concert on May 29 at 7 p.m. The performance will include music from The Phantom of the Opera, as well Telemann’s Don Quixote Suite and Russian folk music. Donations of $5 per adult are welcomed. The concert is at Culbreth Middle School.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro district alumni were inducted into the Chapel Hill High School/Lincoln High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday. Inductees were Mike Earey, basketball; Dovonte Edwards, football; Robert Edwards, football; Lizzie Newton, lacrosse; Steve Scott, soccer; and Coach Joe Augustine, football. Dovonte Edwards plays football for the Detroit Lions.
