The community advocacy group Save Bolin Creek asked the Carrboro Greenways Commission at a public meeting at Town Hall on Monday to reject proposed plans to pave the Bolin Creek Greenway from Estes Drive to Homestead Road and instead create a 425-acre conservation preserve in the Bolin Creek Valley.

County votes to put sales tax option on November ballot
The Orange County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday to put a quarter-cent sales-tax referendum on the November ballot.
The move followed the board’s final approval of the county’s $175.3 million 2010-11 budget, which included steep cuts to county departments, nonprofit agencies and both school districts.

Citizen announces circulation increase.
The Carrboro Citizen is now available at more than 175 locations, publisher Robert Dickson announced this week. The free weekly newspaper, launched in March 2007, is now distributing 7,000 papers in Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Pittsboro and Hillsborough. The current numbers represent a 40 percent increase since the paper’s inception and a 28 percent increase since January 2009.
