Positive intervention honorees
Twelve Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools were recently recognized by the Exceptional Children Division of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction at the annual Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Initiative Workshop and Recognition.
Summer camp opportunities

Phillips student awarded
Grace Morris, a student at Phillips Middle School, received a Certificate of Excellence in the 2012 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, placing her in the top 10 percent of all N.C. applicants.

Phillips Middle School sixth grader Quentin Sieredzki won first place in the Sallie Markham Michie Trust Essay Competition.
Middle school jazz honors
Two CHCCS middle school jazz bands were recognized for their participation in last Friday’s Elon Jazz Festival.

The 16th Annual Chapel Hill High School Swing Dance and Silent Auction will be held March 10 from 7:30 to 11 p.m. in the CHHS main gym.
Mentor shares expertise
Graig Meyer, coordinator of the CHCCS Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate (BRMA) program, will help attendees at the 2012 School Improvement Innovation Summit design plans to overcome the persistent and widening achievement gap in schools.
Faur places fourth at states
Carrboro High School wrestler George Faur placed fourth in the NCHSAA State 2A Wrestling Championship last week.
Smith MathCounts heads to finals
Earlier this month, the Smith Middle School MathCounts Team won their MathCounts Chapter Competition at Athens Drive High in Raleigh, coming in first out of 28 teams.
Children’s art exhibit
A Young Children’s Art Opening will be held at The ArtsCenter on Sunday from 2-3 p.m., sponsored by the Orange County Partnership for Young Children.
Nominations for Teacher of the Year
CHCCS is now accepting nominations for the 2012-13 Teacher of the Year, due to the school’s principal’s office by March 1.
