The Phillips Middle School Symphonic Band earned superior ratings at the North Carolina Central District Band Festival on March 19 at Graham High School. The band performed “Courage March†by Harold Bennett, “Moscow 1941†by Brian Balmages and “Silverbrook†by Michael Sweeney. The 48-member ensemble is directed by Jane Cutchin.

Culbreth students raise $1,000 for international charity
Culbreth Middle School students recently raised $1,000 for the International Justice Mission through a coin drive, “Loose Change to Loosen Chains.†The International Justice Mission fights childhood slavery in third-world countries.
