County votes to put sales tax option on November ballot
The Orange County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday to put a quarter-cent sales-tax referendum on the November ballot.
The move followed the board’s final approval of the county’s $175.3 million 2010-11 budget, which included steep cuts to county departments, nonprofit agencies and both school districts.

Demario Atwater pleaded guilty on Monday in state court to first-degree murder in connection with the death of former UNC Student Body President Eve Carson.
Homestead Road development approved
After a lengthy discussion on the impact to nearby neighborhoods, the Chapel Hill Town Council voted 7-2 at its meeting Monday night at Town Hall to approve a development for the corner of Homestead Road and Weaver Dairy Road Extension.
