"Preliminary Study # 2. ... Air Craft Carrier ... 32-3/4 knot", November 17, 1920

Preliminary design plan for an aircraft carrier for the Fiscal Year 1922 shipbuilding program (Preliminary Study # 2). This drawing was prepared by the Bureau of Construction and Repair in response to draft characteristics provided by the General Board on 6 November 1920 in order for the Bureau to be able to discuss design tradeoffs at a planned General Board hearing. This version met all the draft characteristics except for speed and provided much greater aircraft storage than Scheme # 1 (see Photo # S-584-169-A and Photo # S-584-169-B). No ships were built to this concept, which was superseded by new designs in 1921 (see Photo # S-584-179.)
This plan provided sixteen 6-inch guns, electric drive machinery, and a speed of 32.75 knots in a ship 810 feet long on the waterline, 80 feet in beam on the waterline, and with a normal displacement of 35,000 tons.
Note: The original document was ink on paper (black on white).

The original plan is in the 1911-1925 "Spring Styles Book".
