USS Saint Sebastian (SP-470), 1917-1919.
Originally the civilian motor boat St. Sebastian.

The 50-foot motor boat St. Sebastian, which had been built before World War I at St. Sebastian, Florida, was acquired by the Navy in June 1917. Placed in commission in August of that year as USS St. Sebastian (SP-470), she was subsquently employed in Florida waters as a patrol boat. The craft was destroyed by a hurricane at Key West while awaiting sale in September 1919.

This page features our only views of the motor boat St. Sebastian and USS St. Sebastian (SP-470).

Note: The Ships' Histories Branch of the Naval Historical Center holds one other view of the motor boat St. Sebastian, taken prior to her Naval service.
This photograph was taken from off the vessel's starboard side, while she was hauled out of the water, but with triangular sails rigged on her masts. The image is not very sharp.
The photo is mounted on the "SP" data card for St. Sebastian (SP-470).
