Title: Library services for distance learners : a gap analysis investigation

Abstract: This study of service quality in library services provided to distance learners employs the SERVQUAL instrument. SERVQUAL is a standard survey instrument designed to examine perceptions and expectations of quality service in any industry. This study examines whether differences exist among expectations of service on the part of distance
learners, librarians in provider libraries, in "victim" libraries, and distance education administrators and faculty. The purpose of this research is primarily to improve the knowledge of library service quality that is provided to distance education students. The study reveals
differences in expectations and perceptions of service that exist among librarians, administrators, faculty, and distance learners.
