Supporters of the Community Sports News wondered why CSN wasn't included in our February issue on NC's Grassroots Media. I hadn't previously considered that the paper, which focuses on local sports, would want to be mentioned in our left-oriented pages, or that CSN viewed itself as 'progressive.'
Yet publisher Joel Bulkely made the point that it was in large part the actions of CSN supporters that caused UNC officials to bar motorized vehicles from University Lake. Allowing such vehicles free play would have churned up the lake's ecology or threaten more humbly human-powered craft.
And CSN has supported the Prism in many ways over the years.
So when you want excellent coverage of and promotion of local sports and recreation, make sure to pick up a copy of the CSN around town (they get around more than we do). I've yet to see a good sports section in a lefty paper.
