If you’re like us, you want to be out amongst the people to watch the historic swearing in of Barack Obama at high noon on Inauguration Day. So we’ve taken a stab at listing local eateries and bars that will not only have the pomp and circumstance on the TV, but will have the sound on so we can hang on every word. Here’s what we’ve got so far. Do us all a favor and add any other places you’re aware of.
Orange County Social Club (108 E. Main St.)
Southern Rail (201-C E. Main St.)
Town Hall Grille (410 Market St.)
Tyler’s Taproom (102 E. Main St.)
Other options:
If you just like to watch, you can chow down at Carolina Brewery (460 W. Franklin St.), which will have it on the TV without the sound.
Pittsboro’s City Tap (89 Hillsboro St.) doesn’t have TVs, but will put it on the radio.
The Armadillo Grill (120 E. Main St.) will have the festivities on their TVs, but since they can’t turn down the music, they’ll try to boost the broadcast volume.

Watch this historic inaguration with your friends in the heart of Carrboro. A taco truck will be on the scene if you’re hungry. Handicap accessible.
Message from host: The venue is a white cinderblock building built in 1950 which contains an open office, a music store, a biofuels R&D lab and an open area where we will project the inaguration on the wall and celebrate when it’s done.
Hello friends,
What a great day Tuesday will be in our nation’s history. What a great reason to get together and celebrate. For the first time in my life I wanted to hang an American Flag, so I did, right under the OBAMA sign on my cinderblock building in Carrboro at 204 West Main St. If it’s your first time here it’s… Read More right next to Auto logic and you can’t miss the OBAMA sign. We will have fire barrels outside to help stay warm and 600 sq ft of indoor dance floor. I ordered 2 bushels of oysters but I don’t think they will last long. there will be a keg of beer but after that you’re on your own. Bring some money to buy a taco from the taco truck if he doesn’t sell enough tacos its not worth for him to set up at our party. Bring your friends, this will be a day and a night to remember. See you Tuesday.
