Advance Notice: The Week in Concerts 11/16-22

Here because you can’t be trusted to know where to hear the good stuff on every night of the week.

Mon – 11/16

  • The XX / John Hopkins / The Dig @ Local 506 – The xx is a modern R&B inspired indie trio of 20-somethings from South London who sound like some blues-ed out Interpol, slowed down Massive Attack, grooved in Hot Chip mash-up (hear: “Crystalised”)…maybe.  It’s hard to put a finger on, but you can put an ear to it for $8 adv / $10 day of the show.

Tues – 11/17

  • D. Charles Speer & The Helix / Dan Melchior und Das Menace / Hiss Golden Messenger @ The Nightlight – The venerable MC Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger swears, “the Helix’s Hawkwinded honky tonk and wet Gary Stewart versioning is not to be missed.”  Having known Taylor (and his spacey tunes) for a couple years now I’d say his recommendation is a sure bet.  Just $6 to test the waters.

Wed – 11/18

  • Robert Earl Keane / Sons of Bill @ Lincoln Theatre $22 adv / $25 day of the show
  • Triangle Sound Painting Orchestra / Jim Kellough’s Spectacle ‘Locomotive with 6 Wheels of Steel” @ The Pinhook – Get ready for a Triangle Soundpainting Orchestra fundraiser with a theme show called: “TOTEM AIRLINES FLIGHT 779 – IT’S GONNA BE A BUMPY RIDE.”  It’s bound to be a bumpy (and wildly entertaining) ride.

Fri – 11/20

Fri – 11/20-22

Sat – 11/21

  • Killer Filler / The Soulless Dogs / X-Rayons @ The Cave

Sun – 11/22

This is awesome, Ashley. Thanks for providing more than just a list of performers. You make a girl want to get a babysitter and go out!
